Costa Rica sonulate in Rivas, Nica – why was it closed?

Was planning on going to Costa Rica soon and we were told the CR consulate office in Rivas has been closed. Now she has to go to Managua a 4-5 round trip just to get a Visa.

Does anyone have any info on why they closed this location down.?

    Thanks ND crew!

The Nicaragua Dispatch put your question to Costa Rican Ambassador Javier Sancho Bonilla, who said:

“That’s right, the consulate (in Rivas) is closed indefinitely. All consular processing — including entrance visas for Costa Rica — must be done in the consulates in Managua or Chinandega; this is due to the new system of visa security that is available only in Managua and Chinandega and not Rivas, which is no longer in operation.”
